Information we collect
We collect information that you choose to provide through the enquiry form or by email. This may include:
- your name, business email address, business name and service interest;
- an optional website address and telephone number;
- the search, website or business priorities described in your message; and
- subsequent correspondence and information needed to assess, agree or deliver work.
The website also produces limited technical information required to deliver and secure the service, such as request timestamps, device or browser information, referral information and security logs. Cookieless analytics provides anonymised page-view, referral, browser, operating-system, device-type and country-level reporting.
Why we use personal information
| Purpose | Typical information | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to enquiries and discuss requested services | Contact, business and enquiry details | Steps requested before entering a contract and legitimate interests in operating the consultancy |
| Prepare proposals, establish and deliver client work | Business contacts, correspondence and project information | Contract, steps before contract and legitimate interests |
| Maintain security, prevent misuse and troubleshoot the website | Technical requests, timestamps and security records | Legitimate interests in providing a secure and reliable website |
| Understand aggregate website use | Anonymised page and device statistics | Legitimate interests in improving the website and measuring its usefulness |
| Meet legal, tax, accounting or regulatory duties | Relevant business and transaction records | Legal obligation |
We do not use website enquiries for unrelated marketing without an appropriate lawful basis. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects using solely automated processing.
How long information is kept
Enquiries that do not become client engagements are normally retained for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact. Records connected with client work, contracts, invoices or legal obligations may be retained for up to seven years after the relationship ends. Security records are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to investigate and prevent misuse. An enquiry is stored before email delivery is attempted, so a submission may remain in the secure database even if the website reports an email-delivery error.
Information may be kept longer when required by law, needed for a live dispute, or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights. It is deleted or anonymised when no longer needed.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and lawful basis, you may have rights to access, correct or erase personal information, restrict its use, object to its use, or receive portable information. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier lawful processing.
To exercise a right, email info@searchequitygroup.com. Reasonable information may be requested to confirm identity. Data-protection requests are normally answered within one month.
